If you're considering purchasing a heating pad for back pain then have a read of our article. It will help you decide if it's the correct decision for your back.

Are you at the point where you’re considering using a heating pad for back pain? Have things got so bad that you’ve almost given up all hope, and taken the expensive option of going to see a chiropractor? Many things can trigger off back pain, and these days, there seem to be almost as many ideas on how to ease back pain as there are ways of getting it; but, have you actually tried any that really work?

I’m sure you know what it’s like; you wake up in the morning feeling bright, refreshed, and ready to start the day, right? Ok, that’s not really what it’s like, is it? You’ve spent most of the night carefully shifting from side to side to try and get that one spot that doesn’t cause the agonizing pain. Some time, usually about 3.15am, you decide that you can’t take anymore, and try to get out of bed to find the last of the back pain relief products that you bought. Maybe it will work for you this time?

Discovering that getting to the bathroom to try and find said product has caused you even more pain than you’ve had in your life, you cross your fingers, and hope that it’s going to do the job; but it doesn’t, and, frankly, you’re not too surprised. So what now?

Now you have two options; pay for the rest of your life by getting on a chiropractor’s list, or, try out the heating pad for back pain option; what have you got to lose?

Have you ever had a back pain and discovered that a nice hot bath worked wonders on it? The only problem was you couldn’t spend the next few days in there; so, wouldn’t it make sense that other things that could provide heat for back pain would have a similar affect? Now, I’m sure, you’re starting to see the magic of the heating pad for back pain.

Here, as they say, is the science. Your back may be going into spasms, that can cause a tightening, and the pain that’s stopping you from doing things. If that’s the case then heat will help you because it will reduce the transmission of the signals to the brain that tell it you’re in pain. It does this by stimulating the skins sensory receptors.

The next thing that back heating pads will do is to increase the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the muscles by dilating the blood vessels around the area giving you pain.

Next, a heating pad for back pain stretches tissue, adhesions, and muscles around the area causing you pain. That means that you’ll have far less stiffness, and will at least be able to move around a little more than you’d have done otherwise.

Of course, one of the key benefits of using these forms of back pain relief products is the fact that you can wear them under your clothing; so you can continue on with many of the important things that you may have had to avoid in the past. Whether that’s actually a good thing, is really up to you to decide.

So, if all else has failed, and you’ve seen how a nice hot bath has been beneficial in the past, then consider other ways of using heat for back pain to get you on the move again. There’s no real reason why you should pay out all of that money for a chiropractor, not if you know the power of one simple little, inexpensive heating pad for back pain.

There are numerous types of heating pads available on the market today. So which type of pad is best? We have a look at the different types and help you to pick the best one for you.

There is no heating pad that is the best heating pad. Every heating pad has its benefits for people and it really comes down to the subjective usage of a particular pad. Some people will need more warmth than others over a longer period of time. Some enjoy the scent of herbal heating pads as the herbs have relaxing qualities to them.

A heating pad is a device used for stimulating parts of the body with warmth. The usage of a heating pad can be for comfort or to stimulate the natural healing properties of the body. The warmth will open up the blood vessels in the area of the pad and increasing blood and nutrient flow to that part of the body. No matter what your preference there is a heating pad for you.

If you enjoy all the comforts of a modern home an electric heating pad will be great for your sore muscles. An electric heating pad can get up to about 180 degrees. This pad unlike most heating pads, are used for deep tissue type treatments. If they are left on for too long they could end up burning the person wearing them. If you want to take technology even further you can invest in an infrared heating pad. These heating pads use infrared radiation to do basically the same thing that a normal heating pad would do (that is increase the blood flow to the part of the body the pad is on).

If you are having pains you can use a heating pad for back pain. A neck heating pad is shaped to drape over the back of the neck and hang over the front as a counter weight. A shoulder heating pad will most often have a clip to hold it onto your shoulder or be heavy enough to hang on your body if you have to sit up to use it. A moist heating pad is ideal for someone who needs a more penetrating type of warmth. The moisture in the heating pad allows the wearer to feel the heat more deeply than usual. A microwave heating pad is simply a heating pad that is warmed up in the microwave and laid onto a part of the body that needs warmth and healing.

A pocket sized portable heating pad can be a blessing especially on a cold camping trip. A small hand warming pocket portable heating pad can last for 12 hours or so if you buy them from a camping supply or sports supply store. A portable heating pad has a chemical reaction with the bits inside it that produce heat for your hands or feet on the coldest days. When the heating pad owner squeezes, the chemicals inside the heating pad mix and almost instantly the pad begins working. These pads can get too warm for more sensitive areas than feet or hands though so users should be careful not to put them anywhere else.

Amazing Relief From Instant Cold Packs

There should be no reason why an instant cold pack is not tucked away in your own medicine cabinet ready for when you or your family might need it.

A brilliant invention designed to alleviate stress, pain and tension without the use of drugs or inducing any form of chemical, instant cold packs have come a long way since they were first introduced. Ideal for sports and other injuries that require an immediate application of cold conditions to reduce pain, swelling, and heat, the instant cold packs have already proven to be a fast remedy to an existing condition.

Widely available either online or offline, they are cost effective forms of treatment that should be in every first aid kit. Instant ice packs can help in so many situations, and being that they need nothing else to be effective, an instant ice pack is simple to apply. Even a child can apply an instant ice pack; they are really that easy to understand. Like everything else on the market today, there are various designs, sizes and types of cold therapy pack, and which one you need or want depends on your personal circumstances.

The way they work generally, is that there are two pouches, one inside the other. The inner cell or pouch is filled with an active agent that reacts with the water in the surrounding outer pouch. When the two are combined by gently crushing the inner cell, the temperature drops considerably, to resemble the same effect that would be received from using a real pack of crushed ice.

There are different sizes available to deal with different areas of the body, making it easier to apply them comfortably and efficiently. Making sure that your gel ice pack is the right one for your injury will inevitably determine the duration of any pain and discomfort from the injury. We all know that the cold reduces swelling, and this is what most injuries require initially.

There are also different types of instant cold packs that you can purchase. For starters you may want to consider a “single use” instant cold pack, but on the other hand you may prefer to opt for reusable cold packs instead. The main consideration you should have for repeated use ice packs is the potential for the spread of germs from one application to another. Because the instant ice pack will be applied directly to the skin on the affected area, the same reusable ice pack will be applied to the skin of the next person, and so on. This would be seen mainly in sporting teams and other groups of people who all need some instant ice pack therapy.

As with anything that we apply to our body, either internally or externally, you should check out anything that may be a concern for you. Questions should be raised if you are worried about anything at all. Overall though, when and if used in the correct manner, according to manufacturer’s instructions, there should be no reason why an instant cold pack is not tucked away in your own medicine cabinet ready for when you or your family might need it.

Cooling Neck Wrap – Pertinent Information

A cooling neck wrap will usually do a pretty good job at soothing and calming down the neck muscles when they have been under short term and long term stress.

In our everyday lives, we sometimes do activities that require a great deal of stress on the body, particularly the neck. Sometimes we may be playing football, soccer, lacrosse, track and field, or other similar sport. On the other hand, we may be doing non sports activities such as hiking, rock climbing or driving.

In each of these events, the use of a cool neck wrap is sometimes necessary. This is to prevent chronic stress to the neck and its outlying areas such as the collar bone, shoulder blades and upper back muscles. There are a few ways to employ cool neck wraps to your body in order to achieve maximum results.

If it is a hot day, then using a neck wrap during strenuous activities may be right for you. This is because your body heat tends to congregate at the upper half of your torso and head. Most body heat ends up at your head and neck because the natural law of temperature gradients states that heat rises against the force of gravity. Heat rises simply because its molecules take up more space than its cooler counterparts.

What does this mean for you? This means that the hottest parts of your body are your head and neck. This is where neck coolers come in. In these situations, it will be to your utmost advantage to use a neck cooler in order to dissipate the heat from your body. When you apply your neck cooler, your body will be able to function for longer periods of time during whatever workout you’re doing because the body isn’t so stressed from high heat.

Sometimes after a long day sitting in your cubicle and looking at your computer, you may have developed a dull pain in your neck. This is probably due to not sitting correctly or having your head turned toward your computer for a long period of time.

If this happens, you may have developed a crook in your neck. This is a normal occurrence and happens to a lot of people. When you get home, take out some cool neck wraps and put one on your neck as you relax for the evening. The crook should go away within 24 to 48 hours. If it doesn’t then consult your doctor because it may be something more serious.

Cool neck wraps usually do a pretty good job at soothing and calming down the neck muscles when they have been under short term and long term stress. If you have experienced one of these situations, then don’t hesitate to break out your cooling neck wrap and use it to its full capacity.

Ultimately, using these neck coolers will be to your advantage because they will allow you to continue your activities for a more sustained period of time. Remember to create an ergonomically safe work environment to protect your vital features such as your head and neck. And when you do need a solution to soothe out your muscles, using cool neck wraps is will be a great way to go.

An electric mattress pad is very nice because before you have to get into your bed, you can turn it on to get the bed nice, warm and toasty when it is time to go to sleep.

Electric heating pads and electric mattress pads have certainly changed quite a bit since I was a child. I remember whenever I dislocated my knee by grandmother pull out the heating pad and would wrap it around my leg. In those days the heating pads were pretty hot and you had to put them in several pillow cases and towels so as not to get burned. But they were always comforting and it kept me warm.

Later, in life, I purchased my own electric blanket and an electric mattress pad. I wasn’t sure which one would work best for me and decided to try them both out. I found that I favored the electric mattress pad over the electric blanket.

There are various different heated mattress pads out there. There are waterproof mattress pads, which are really great for children and also for the elderly who cannot control their functions any longer. This way you don’t have to worry about anyone being electrocuted and they can still enjoy the warmth and comfort of having an electric mattress pad to help them to sleep.

Though, many have said that having the electric mattress pad has made it much easier and better than having an electric blanket, because you could lower the temperature settings to real low temperatures so that you don’t get overheated. Were as an electric blanket is on top of you and not only is it heating you up but it’s holding the heat and with nowhere for the heat to go thus causing you to get overheated. What’s nice is you’re laying on top of the mattress pad and the heat comes up to you to meet your body.

Today we have all sorts of electric mattress pads to choose from. They help to shake off the coldness of the night so that we can sleep well, nice, snug and warm and in our beds. But what is so nice about electric mattress pads is that you are able to control the heat flow so that you do not get too hot or too cold.

An electric mattress pad is very nice because before you have to get into your bed, you can turn it on to get the bed nice, warm and toasty when it is time to go to sleep. That way you can turn the heat down at night so you can help to reduce the heating bill. And once the mattress pad has heated up the bed you’re ready for a nice long sleep. Zzzzzz.

The Thermotex infrared heating pad is machine washable and comes with two power settings, Hi and Lo. This portable infrared heating pad is amongst the best on the market.

The Thermotex heating pad, by most user accounts, is a pretty remarkable muscle rehabilitation aid, effective for the temporary relief of pain. The Thermotex infrared heating pad is made up of three separate pads, which gives it an incredible amount of reach, allowing the user to effectively treat even the larger parts of the body, for instance, the back or quads. This popular infrared heating pad comes with a strap, which makes it possible for users to easily attach it to a specific part of the body. The strap is adjustable so that tightening it around the injured, inflamed or sore body part is a cinch.

It is quite versatile and can be used as a heating pad for back pain, as a shoulder heating pad and even as a knee heating pad. It is this versatility that makes it one of the top infrared heating pads on the market.

The heating pad is pretty large. It measures approximately 17” x 15.”This makes it especially ideal for the treatment of pain, injury and inflammation of the back. Obviously, as mentioned above, it can be used on other parts of the body, but it is especially beneficial for the back. The pad’s 120 volts and 36 watts, makes it powerful enough to bring fast relief and reduced inflammation to virtually any part of the body.

Individuals that suffer from injuries or pain that have proven to be chronic will naturally be interested in effective ways to remedy or at least experience some relief. This is especially true if the pain or injury has made it difficult, if not impossible, to engage in activities that a person once enjoyed, but is no longer able to. The Thermotex heating pad can provide temporary relief to those individuals that are suffering from chronic pain and/or conditions.

The number of ailments that this product is able to provide temporary pain relief for is seemingly endless, though it obviously can’t be used to treat everything that ails a person. It can be used to at least temporarily relieve the pain of those who suffer from back pain, Ankylosing Spondylitis (which mainly affects the spine and the pelvis), Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Golfer’s elbow, Sciatica, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid arthritis and even menstrual cramps, amongst ailments and conditions.

The Thermotex infrared heating pad is machine washable and comes with two power settings, Hi and Lo. This portable infrared heating pad is amongst the best on the market. It’s powerful, convenient and can be used for the temporary relief of pain whether a person is at home or on the go.

Herbal heating pads can be bought or made at home. If you like more information on them then please read our guide to discover how wonderful they really are!

Relieving pain using herbal heating pads also known as herbal heat packs is a trend that is catching up with general public today. The relaxing effect caused by these pads can reduce pain caused by arthritis, fibromyalgia, backache, neck pain, migraines, muscle aches and sprains. Herbal heat pads can be bought in stores or can be made at home.

What is inside an Herbal Heating Pad?

The contents inside an herbal heating pad are known as ‘fillers’. Some common fillers are buckwheat, uncooked oats, dried leaves and Rice. Some essential oils like Lavender, Eucalyptus, Peppermint and Rosemary are also added in the packs for their healing properties.

How does it works?

Usually, the heating pad is kept in a micro oven for some time and placed on the shoulders, neck or eyes. The heat thus emitted will cause the constricted blood vessels to come back to their normal position. It works like how ironing a wrinkled shirt makes it come back to its normal state.

If you want to purchase an herbal heating pad or herbal heat wrap you can choose depending on which part of body is causing the pain. There are shoulder heat pads, neck heat pads, lower back pads and also eye relief pads available in the market. These pads are designed in a way to produce maximum relaxation to the sore muscles in the pain spots of your body.

How to make it at home

If you would like to make an herbal heating pad yourself at home, you can do so by cutting a fabric, filling it with buckwheat or uncooked oats and stitching it tightly. Using Rice as filler is not a good idea as it cannot withstand too much heat like buckwheat. You can also add some essential oils in the filler to make it better. You can find step-by-step instructions by searching on the internet.

What if the filler gets stale?

This is a common problem faced by people using home made herbal heating packs. As every time they have to remove the stitches and empty the contents to fill it again with a different material. Some heat packs available in the market come with a secure loop and seal. This makes it easy for the user to remove the seal and put it back when changing the filler.

What If the scent loses its fragrance?

Sometimes you will find that after using these pads for 5 to 6 times the fragrance is no longer there. During those times you can open the seal and add essential oils like Peppermint, Lavender or Eucalyptus to improve the fragrance of the heating pad.

Every essential oil has its own properties. Peppermint is used for vitality, Rosemary is good for reducing pain and respiratory problems and Eucalyptus is known to relieve congestion and ease breathing.

Can it be used for pets?

Like humans, animals do suffer from ailments like sprain, rheumatism and arthritis. You can use herbal heating pads for your pets to help them relax. Before you place a herbal heating pad, test out the reaction of your pet to the fragrance of the heating pads. If your pet doesn’t like the odor try using a different pack.

Shoulder pain is a common problem for many people. All forms of joint injury and pain become more frequent as we age and the accumulated stress from years of lifting set in. The most frequent causes of shoulder pain are either from recent overuse and exertion or an old injury that never healed completely. Having a good routine will help you prevent additional joint damage from minor injuries.

Joint injuries share a few common characteristics. If you’re having joint pain from recent over-exertion, the first thing to look for is swelling. If you experience swelling in a joint, use cold or ice packs for the first 12 to 24 hours to help reduce the swelling. It’s also a good idea to take some form of painkiller to help alleviate your pain and discomfort. After that, you’ll want to find a way to manage the pain and also promote circulation and healing.

One great way to get some relief from this pain and stiffness in your shoulders is with a shoulder heating pad. There are different types of heating pads, but the most common is simply a bendable pad that you heat up in the microwave. After it’s been heated, you wear the pad around your neck and it provides soothing heat for your neck and shoulders. This heat also helps promote circulation and this will help your body heal and repair the damage more quickly.

When you’re looking at different types of shoulder heating pads to purchase, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, how are you going to use your heating pad? If your shoulder pain has been a chronic problem for a while, try to think about when it has flared up most often. This will help you determine if you need a portable heating pad or if you could use an electric version that plugs into a wall socket. Second, has your shoulder pain been getting worse? Pain that is more intense and more frequent can be a sign that you need to see a physical therapist in addition to purchasing a heating pad.

The best shoulder heating pads are reusable and easy to position comfortably where you need them. Make sure you find a heating pad that is flexible and bendable, so you can be comfortable while you’re using it. It’s also a good idea to take a look at some reviews for the product you’re thinking about purchasing, to see if the people who have already purchased it are happy with their decision.

Chronic shoulder pain and stiffness is a common issue, but there are lots of good treatment options available. The first step in managing your chronic shoulder pain is to invest in a good shoulder heating pad and use it regularly.

There are many companies who produce the infrared heating pads and there are many different models currently on the market. Even though the medical community has not yet endorsed the infrared heating pad as a true treatment, the people who have used them certainly have nothing but praise for them!

While it is true that traditional heating pads will help to soothe tension through the body and ease any pain, only an infrared heating pad will utilize your own body heat to soothe the pain. This is known as far infrared energy.

This is a process that naturally occurs in the body and it exudes it through your skin. It is measured in microns. These are tiny measurements of energy output. The average output of energy from your body is 9.4 microns, though it can range anywhere between 3 and 50 microns. The infrared heat pads utilize this energy and it mimics the healing process of the human body that occurs naturally. With a better blood flow the microns in the skin are a lot higher. This actually shows that there is a strong connection between your general health and the infrared energy in the skin.

You may have an illness that restricts your blood flow or it can actually be the cause of an illness. There are many ailments that will give you decreased circulation. These include illness, injury or even toxins in your body. If the blood flow is restricted in your body or indeed in a particular part of your body then your body really struggles to heal that part of the body. This can cause problems in other parts of the body which can mean you may notice an increased deterioration in the body and your general health. The infrared heating pads actually help by promoting the blood flow throughout your body.

The infrared healing pad utilizes between 4 and 14 microns of far infrared energy that will help to increase your health overall. The infrared heating pads allow your body to absorb up to 90% more beneficial heat. Studies have also shown that by using the infrared heating pads they have a greater depth of healing than traditional heating pads. They can actually penetrate several inches into the body.

Traditional heating pads need the surface of the heating pad and your skin to work and this can be uncomfortable for you as the temperatures can at times exceed 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Even though they are incredibly hot, they do not penetrate to a very great depth into the body. The natural heat from the infrared heat pads allows you to use them for longer in comfort, and you will get better depth penetration giving you much better results.

Over the last 10 years, the infrared heating pads have become popular as more and more people realize the benefits of them. The testimonials and reviews from users with many different ailments or chronic health issues certainly point out to you how beneficial these devices could be to you and should definitely be looked into as a viable option for treatment.
There are many companies who produce the infrared heating pads and there are many different models currently on the market. Even though the medical community has not yet endorsed the infrared heating pad as a true treatment, the people who have used them certainly have nothing but praise for them!
